At thirty-four, she’s drowning in debt, stuck in a moldy basement apartment, and can’t stop thinking about that one gorgeous ex who dumped her. Toss in an estranged mother and a head full of racing thoughts that keep her up at night, and all she has going for her is her best friend from work and lovable rescue pitbull. That is, until HHTV shows up at her job in Philly with lights, cameras, and the promise of a beautiful new home in Spokane, Washington.

Now she has to decide between the family she’s chosen and the demands of the family she was born with—and what “home” actually means to her.

What a whirlwind! I won’t lie, I thought this book would be a little predictable when I started it. I was pleasantly proven wrong.

Breanna’s story is full of ups, downs, twists, and turns, that lead her life down several different paths. Ultimately the ending is the best possible path for her but getting there was rough. The side characters to this story were such great additions as well. Rather they played a large or small part in the story they all forged the path for Breanna. It is such a strong testament to how each choice and encounter shifts your journey towards your destiny.

This book tugged at my heartstrings as a fellow fur momma. The attention to detail to Hippo’s mannerisms was absolute perfection! I have a boxer named Calypso who does a very similar wiggle and I laughed when Hippo wiggled as well.

Overall this book was a sweet story of Breanna finding her way with her best friend Hippo at her side through a LOT of hardship. If you love a story of found family, trials, hard choices, and even a little love then this is the story for you!

I really enjoyed this story. It was full of twists and tension and surprises. The protagonist always stayed true to herself, no matter what everyone around her was saying, but she was still able to grow and learn about life and herself throughout the story. This is a feel-good read that is right for you if you’re ready to see the twists life can give you.
