Never heard of us before? That’s understandable—we’re kinda new to the publishing scene. Here’s some basic info about us and what we do.
Our Founder
My name is Emylie, and I started Green Crow Publishing in July 2024. As a self-published poet and a new editor, I decided that it was time to start a small publishing house to help further the reach of the books I was editing for others. I wanted to start publishing books in a name I picked for myself—if you’re wondering, I like the color green, and I love the intelligence and intuitive cleverness of crows—and Green Crow Publishing was born.
From the very beginning, I knew this publishing house was going to be quite different from the traditional ones. It’s my absolute favorite thing in the world to find a book that is uncategorizable, one that gives me a new perspective or that makes me question the world we live in. That’s why you might find that our “genre wishlist” isn’t really cut-and-dry: my goal is always to find works that can truly only be defined as unique.
As an originally self-published author myself, my goal with Green Crow is not just to help our authors, but to champion all authors, independent, traditional, or otherwise. I know, as I’m sure you do, just how much work (let alone bravery!) that goes into getting your book out into the world, and it’s no small feat. That’s why I want to help you get your book out there: I want to ease your walk on the path to publication!
Our Mission
Our mission is to help authors do what they love without sacrificing their independence. What this means for you: you have the final say. You have the creative control, and we’re here to help you take it further.
We make copyedits? You approve them.
We adjust the front cover? You give us the green light for publication.
We want to sign you up for interviews? You choose your participation level.
At Green Crow Publishing, we wouldn’t be where we are without our authors. It’s our goal to make them comfortable with not only their works, but with our process as we get their works out there into the world. Why should you sacrifice your voice, your boldness, your creativity, when it’s what got you here in the first place? That’s one question we’ll never ask our authors to answer.
As a hybrid publisher, we’re able to give you the creativity and freedom that bigger, more traditional publishers don’t. That’s the beauty of small publishers at our finest: we may not be a household name (yet!), but our size means we have time for you. Your dream. Your vision. Your story—the reason you’ve started the search for where your work will call home. Our publishing house takes the time to keep you updated, give you goals, structure the process, and keep things moving forward at your pace.
Do we have deadlines? Yes. But we see you as more than our next opportunity; we see the person behind the work, and it’s our pride and joy to know that we do everything we can to work around your needs and your schedule. We’ve cancelled events, moved deadlines, made the hard calls, stayed up late and gotten up early to give our manuscripts those last few edits to make our books perfect (or, as close as humanly possible). And we’ll do it all again—for you and your story.
