Whether you’re a brand new author or one with a bit more experience, you’ve probably figured out by now that publishing can look very different for each author (and each publisher!). That’s why we wanted to simplify our process into five easy steps to reduce that never-ending writer stress! Without further ado, here’s how Green Crow Publishing gets your work out into the world:
Step 1: Submit Your Manuscript
At Green Crow Publishing, our submission cycle is from May 1-September 30. Once you submit your manuscript, our publication team will review it and get back to you within 30-60 days.
Step 2: Edit Your Piece
While we expect your manuscript to be roughly edited by the time it hits our inbox, we know it takes an infinite number of editing rounds to make your work really shine! You’re welcome to hire your own editors, or perform the service for yourself, but at Green Crow Publishing, we use Contra to bring editors around the world to your manuscript. Contra confirms the identities of both the author and the editor, giving you the peace of mind to have your manuscript edited securely. Step 3: Design Your Cover
Most people do judge a book by its cover, so it’s important that we give your manuscript a design that truly highlights the beauty and creativity of your hard work. You’re welcome to design the cover for yourself, but we know that if you want to hire out this service, finding a cover artist on your own can be difficult. At Green Crow Publishing, we partner with Contra to bring the artists to you. Contra confirms the identities of both the cover designer and the author, so you can be assured that your book cover is being designed by someone you can trust. Step 4: Get Your Book on the Shelves
Once everything else is squared away, it’ll finally be time to get your book published! We’ll handle all the paperwork, but don’t worry–before the book is officially published, we’ll send the final project your way so you can make sure it looks up to your standards. Once you give it the green light, we’ll send it out to the printing presses!
Step 5: Marketing
Now that your book is out into the world, it’s time to let the people know what they’re missing out on! At Green Crow Publishing, we help our authors every step of the way with social media marketing, connecting with bookstores, and reaching out to local libraries to get their books noticed. We also encourage our authors to do their part to share their work with the world, whatever that may look like, and we’re there every step of the way to help make that happen.
